Some Information on the Sexual Harassment Lawsuit Faced by Cedar Realty’s CEO
Cedar Realty’s CEO namely Bruce Schanzer is now facing charges of pay discrimination and sexual harassment as filed by their former Chief Operating Officer namely Nancy H. Mozzachio. It will now be all up to a Brooklyn judge to either proceed the lawsuit or not.
According to Nancy Mozzachio, based on the lawsuit she filed on November 2 regarding Schanzer, she claims that the CEO leered regularly at women working in the workplace and made comments that are uncalled for. Aside from calling Nancy Mozzachio ‘babe’, Schanzer also commented about her breast. While holding a coffee cup from Dunkin Donuts, he said allegedly that she has double Ds today. Furthermore, Schanzer is also accused of giving groping hugs that are unwanted to the one filing the case.
According to Nancy H. Mozzachio, when she files a pay disparity and sexual harassment lawsuit, she was fired by the company as a result. Come February 2016 when she was done getting some outside help for the sexual harassment case she was filing against the Cedar’s CEO, she was then terminated for her job. Come the following week where her meeting was canceled, she was then terminated.
During the year 2015 when an external investigator decided to probe on the allegations, Cedar Realty then decided to start investigating on the matter. Despite the presence of an investigator by the company, Nancy Mozzachio makes mention that if it will be about Schanzer and the sexual harassment allegations made by the female employees of the company, the investigator ignores them. One of the reports of the Wall Street Journal has even gotten some claim from one female employee who has been asked by Schanzer what color her underwear is. So that investors will not be taking back their money from the company, these complaints are silenced as per Mozzachio by paying by payroll the complainants.
The company has obtained some success because of Nancy Mozzachio and she as well. While she started off in the year 2003 as the director of leasing and in the year 2004 as the vice president of leasing, she then worked her way up until the year 2014 where she became the chief operating officer. Based on her lawsuit, she mentions that even if she is supposed to get higher compensation than the CFO as being the COO, she was being paid lower salary as well as a small bonus than the chief operating officer. Cedar Realty has made it clear that they are not guilty of these charges and after thorough investigation by the board, findings have shown that the allegations are just of no merit.
Nancy H. Mozzachio is still coming back for more after this denial. She will continue fighting for the right of women working in a safer workplace.
